While doing some hunting around on ways to generate income for a website, I very reluctantly decided to give Google AdSense a go.
As the title of this post strongly suggests in its “Green Eggs and Ham” style, I am NOT a fan of ANY website which tries to shove ads in my face, so I certainly didn’t want to do it to others who might feel the same, but when your book you’ve been working on since 2006 isn’t selling while everyone and their Uncle’s cousin’s brother has their hand out for money to help you, you’re not going to change the sales numbers. So, as I said, I decided to give Google AdSense a try in an effort to hopefully generate some income to cover website and/or other costs. Here’s what happened …
Getting things set up wasn’t too bad. Of course, it’s Google, and if you’ve ever been in anything Google and looked at the settings … then you know the convoluted nightmare their sections upon sections of settings can be. However, this wasn’t so much the problem since I was able to get things to a review point.
As to whether any real live human being(s) at Google actually reviewed this website, I can’t say, nor am I just going to blindly believe or trust what anyone with Google says. Why, you ask? Because Google’s response to the review was the vague generic, “Your content does not adhere to our policies”.
What PRECISELY does this mean, because it’s essentially the same as someone walking up to you saying, “I don’t like what you’re wearing”.
What does that mean? Do they not like your shirt, your pants, both, neither, but actually your shoes or perhaps your coat or a hat? WHAT, PRECISELY, and WHY are they creeping up on it like it’s going to go “boo” at them and scare them away?
So, you change your pants. Perhaps you’re wearing sweatpants, so you put on some jeans. Only then, they don’t like the jeans either, so what then? Do you then assume you must need to change into dress pants, or do you change your shirt, hoping perhaps that’s the problem? You don’t know because no one will give you SPECIFICS so you can address the specifics!
Sorry, not playing your game Google AdSense. You can either offer me specifics up front, or go to hell. I’m not playing your cute little “game”. Not doing it. If others want to, that’s fine; go right ahead. But not this guy.
Goodbye and farewell forever, Google AdSense! I shall continue to block thy every effort to rake in passive income off stupid ads for content you have, in your alleged wisdom, watered down and whitewashed to such an extent that it’s a complete waste of my time to consume!
