User Registration and Log In

It took considerable time to find an affordable WordPress plugin to handle user registrations for the site, and I’m still not entirely happy with my choice, but one has to use what they can afford and what has a decent interface for a blind person.

So many of the free plugins out there are built for sighted WYSIWYG users with their drag and drop (which is generally inaccessible to the visually impaired). It takes considerable time to go through all the available options to find something which works even halfway decently.

As I said, I’m still not entirely happy with my choice, and will likely switch to something better if and when I can afford this. A couple of known issues I encountered while testing are:

1. The activation link you will receive by email after registration may not work. If this happens, please send an email to “+author+@+a-wareseriesbooks.com+” (without the quotes and removing all the + characters). Having to do that to foul all the bots crawling around out there, harvesting email addresses.
2. If you are told the validation key was expired or wrong, my experience has been that this is most likely a bug in the plugin. I have been able to successfully log in despite this error message, so give it a try, because it just might work fine.
3. This plugin is supposed to overide the default WordPress screens, but this is also a bug. There are spots where the WordPress defaults are displayed, rather than the custom screens I intended. The best resolution for this is using the Log In/Log Out link in the main navigation menu. The downside is that this logs you out if you are logged in.

I apologize for these problems. The best fix I can offer for now is to make me aware of problems. I check email at least once every day, sometimes more often, and will get to your problem as soon as possible.
